New Shop Stewards Attend Workshop

The New Hotel Shop Stewards’ Workshop on December 10th and 14th, 2007 was a great success! Sixteen new stewards representing hotel members who recently organized their unions participated.

Workshop topics included:
• Shop stewards’ role in the union
• Building union power at work and across the hotel industry
• Understanding and using the grievance process
• Identifying and organizing around issues that call for collective action

The stewards who attended represent members at the following hotels: Hilton Hasbrouck Heights, Hilton Short Hills, Sheraton Edison, and Sheraton Mahwah. Congratulations to these stewards on the work they are doing to build a stronger union!
