On Friday, March 28th, 2008, a strong group of leaders at the Heldrich Center in New Brunswick delivered a petition to their company's Vice President, demanding respect for their right to organize a union and an end to increased surveillance and intimidation targeted towards union activists.

Members Participate in New Jersey Political Walks

In October and early November, 2007, sixty UNITE HERE members came out to support political candidates who are fighting for good union jobs in Newark and Sayreville, NJ. We went door to door to get out the vote for our candidates, building our political power in New Jersey and demonstrating that NY NJ Regional Joint Board members are important allies.

3 Year Agreement Reached at Bemis, Local 1439

After 9 meetings, a 60 day contract extension, and several membership meeting— a new 3 year agreement was ratified between Local 1439, and Bemis Incorporated of Flemington New Jersey.

Two more Co-op stores sign up as union shops

Rolling the union on...

Employees at the new Barneys Co-op stores in Austin, Texas and Los Angeles, California voted last month to become union shops and join the ranks of other Barneys workers in UNITE HERE. The Austin and L.A. workers are just the latest group to join the union: 12 Co-op stores are now represented by the union.
